How to choose mesh count based on particle size

Stainless steel wire mesh has a wide range of applications in filtering, which can be used to filter dust particles, water, air, etc. So how do we choose the right mesh count based on the particle size?

The general definition of the mesh count refers to the number of meshes in an area of 1 inch, that is, the number of meshes of the screen. The number of meshes that the material can pass through in this area will be defined as the mesh count.

As we all know, the mesh count of stainless steel wire mesh is inversely proportional to the opening size and particle size, and proportional to the number of holes. The larger the mesh count, the larger the number of holes, and the smaller the opening size, indicating that the particle size of the material will be finer. The smaller the number of meshes, the smaller the number of holes, the larger the opening size, and the larger the particle size of the material.

Therefore, when the screening material is small particles, a high mesh stainless steel screen should be selected; when the screening material is large particles, a low mesh stainless steel screen should be selected. Our requirements are based on the granularity of the materials to be selected.
